Here are some of my completed projects...

Challenge # 4 - Millie - include food/beverage

Challenge # 3 - Jake - use triangle(s)

Challenge #102 @ 613 Avenue Create

Happy Holiday Season,

It is hard to believe that Christmas is just around the corner... LITERALLY!!  I can't believe that this holiday season has found me so unprepared, yet again!!  SMH..

In spite of being unprepared for this holiday season, I have managed to carve out a little time to finish a quick DT project for 613 Avenue Create.  This week's challenge - hosted by Team B - is another "Anything Goes w/optional gift packaging twist"!  So appropriate for this season, don't you think?!  LOL.  One of our sponsors for this challenge is Bugaboo Stamps, so be sure to visit the website to see what new holiday images are available, to help you get in the holiday crafting mood!  Here's a little inspiration... using the Celebrate Tag from Bugaboo.

Everything, except the tag, was from my stash/scraps!  Now, that's recycling!!  LOL.

Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to leave me a little blog love, if you don't mind.  I'm thinking about doing a give away in the New Year, once I've reached 50 followers!  So, please spread the word.

Warm holiday hugs!

Birthday Projects

It's me again - I know ... twice in the same week?!!  LOL.  I wanted to share a couple of projects that I completed, in celebration of DM's birthday this year.

Last year, my mom had mentioned that she needed a way to store or keep the different hand-made cards/gifts I've given her over the years.  That statement stuck with me for a while.  My first instinct was to get her some type of plastic storage/organizer.  But, as I was preparing for Cassie's Craft-cation in October, the idea hit me... alter a box!!  Well, that idea excited AND scared me, at the same time.  LOL.  This project was going to take me completely out of my comfort zone of paper, and force me into the world of wood!  Needless to say, I am pleased with how my first altered box project turned out.  I do need to learn how to tape off some of the fixtures to avoid getting paint on EVERYTHING!  Lesson learned...

Below is a small collage of the cards that I made for DM - one from the grands, and one from me.  What you don't see in this picture, is the funny...slightly smutty card that I made for her, that I placed inside the box!

SOC: RJ - Sunday's Best Challenges

Good Evening Everyone,

I hope your weekend was great.  I had a busy weekend, but I'm happy that I was able to squeeze a little crafting time in, before heading back to work.  Over at Scraps of Color (SOC -http://scrapsofcolor.ning.com), there's a relay challenge going on in the Robert Jackson Digi Group.  The theme is "Sunday's Best".

Challenge #1 was "Anything Goes".  Challenge #2's twist was to use splattered paint or mist AND some bling!  Now, I can do without the splattered paint or mist, but I just love, love, love some bling!  LOL. Here are my entries for the last two challenges, using RJ's Kim Burrell and Mary Mary images:

Thanks for stopping by.  Please be sure to leave a little blog love, if you're so inclined.

Lady with Hat - Birthday Card

Good Afternoon,

I'm working on getting out here more often, so bare with me.  LOL.  Just wanted to drop off a quick card that I did for my Pastor's mom (really like another mom to me).  She's our church diva (at least that's what I call her - in love).  The sketch that I used is courtesy of Pinterest (I have fallen in love with this layout, too).  The digi is courtesy of Maruva DQ; and it was colored using Copic Markers.  The white patterned paper is from a DCWV stacks (White/Blanc).  The ribbon and bling are from my stash.

Thanks for visiting my crafty slice of Heaven.

Saturday Night Steven

Greetings and Happy (post) 4th of July (Season)!

I tried to post this earlier, but didn't have all of my marker information.  At the time that I completed this project, I hadn't done much crafting.  I DID manage to crank out a quick card for my DT project for Challenge #78.  One of our sponsors for the challenge was Dr. Digis (http://www.doctor-digi.com/).  Please be sure to visit the site to see all of the wonderful digi stamps that are available.  This is "Saturday Night Steven".  I thought he was such a groovy dude... and with that, I created this card (and sent it to my cousin for his birthday - hope he liked it):

This digi was colored using Copic Markers:
Thanks, as always, for your support and blog love.  It's not easy juggling this great passion with "life", but I'm working towards a balance - no matter how long it takes!  LOL.

SOC Summer Swap

Greetings All,

The summer is practically flying by, and I have not made it to the beach yet!!  We took a short trip to Norfolk, but the beaches were not really safe, so we stayed in-land.  Had fun with the family - shopping, movies, and even did a little bowling.  No trip would be complete without a souvenir... so my souvenir was a swollen and bruised foot, after DS accidentally dropped an 11lb bowling ball on my foot!!  OOOOUUUUCCCHHH!!  Thank God NOTHING was broken, just deep contusions (bruises) on the top and bottom of my foot.  After 3 nights of ice/heat/ice/heat... I'm able to wear some sandals/flip flops, but closed shoes are still a little uncomfortable.

Over at SOC, I decided to participate in a "Summer Card" swap.  We had to make, and mail, 2 summer-themed cards for our partner (to be used at their discretion).  I received these cards from Cassie's Craft Cafe:

And I made these cards for my swap partner:

Now, crafty folks that know me know that it's hard for me to do masculine cards; but I have to admit, I like how this one turned out.  I need to make another one to add to my stash!  LOL.

The pictures used for the cards are from the DCWV Summer Stack; and the patterned paper is from a Bright stack by Recollections.  Card layouts are courtesy of Mojo Monday and Pinterest card sketches.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting my blog!

It's Been a While...

Good Morning Friends, Family and Faithful Followers,

Since my last post, DS has graduated from 8th grade and is heading to high school!! WTW?!! Right?!  LOL.  In celebration of this milestone, a few of us are getting together at one of my DS's favorite restaurants to celebrate his transition.  So, the crafter in me decided to force myself out of this slump I've been in, and make some invitations.  I wanted to do something a little different, so I went to Google and Youtube!  I struck gold with "How'd she DO that?" (Dawn O.).  Thanks to Dawn's tutorial on a graduation cap fun fold card, I was able to make some adorable invitations for the graduation celebration.

I followed the tutorial to the letter, EXCEPT for the tassels.  I decided to check out the Silhouette store (during the 40% off sale), and grabbed a couple of tassel files.  The first one didn't work out b/c I couldn't change the year tag in the file ($.59 down the drain - LOL!).  So, I used the second file, which included a shadow image... and voila, the tassel was born!  LMBO.  Anyway, I decided to attach each tassel with a brad (at this point, color didn't really matter).  Much to my surprise, though, this embellishment cost me an additional $.21/card to mail (not b/c of weight, but bulkiness - really??)!!  Now that did it!!

DS told me he had 2 teachers that he really enjoyed this school year; so he asked if I could make them something special.  Well, of course, I went back to the Silhouette Store to find some more files at 40% off!  I found a couple of teacher quotes that I could cut in vinyl and put on a canvas.  Due to time constraints and exhaustion, I was only able to complete one canvas for his homeroom/Science teacher (favorite, too).  Here's the finished project:

Well, now that we've caught up, thanks for visiting my little (slightly neglected) slice of paradise.

Hugs.

Weekend Excursions

Hello Faithful Followers,

Life has taken over, and has been kicking butt!!!  I know it's been a while since my last post; and it's been a while since I've crafted anything.  I recently attended Cassie's Craft Cafe "Craft-cation Getaway" in Hagerstown, MD.  That was 3 full days of paper, scissors, glue, and lots of fun!  I didn't finish all that I set out to do; but I was able to finish a few MD cards, 1.75 (yes, that's right) canvas projects, and complete 2/3 of the work needed for DS graduation celebration invitations.

I was able to go out and support my crafting sista (Cassie) this weekend, as she did her thang at Tracey Dowtin's "Pamper & Style Me" Epic Vendor Showcase.  See pics below...

Well, that's all for now.  As life settles down, I pray my crafting mojo kicks into overdrive!  Thanks for stopping by.

SOC - Wiz Relay Challenge #3

Greetings Family, Friends, and Followers,

In support of my 2014 Declaration to have a greater presence in the crafting world, I decided to take on a few more challenges this year!  As mentioned in previous posts, I'm taking part in a "relay" challenge over at Scraps of Color (SOC).  The image for Challenge #3 was the scarecrow (played by Michael Jackson) - and boy this was a challenge.  We had to include recycled or repurposed material and brick (wall) in our projects.  Well, the recycled/repurposed part was taken care of; but I was NOT prepared for the fight I endured with my Cameo's print & cut feature!!  Six scarecrows bit the dust, in order for at least 1 to survive!  I was almost ready to give up; but that inner voice urged me to give it one more try.  And the end result was a simple card, that met all the requirements!

I reused the paper that stores use to wrap glass, and used it as "stuffing" for the scarecrow, and also for the quote.  The Einstein quote was from "brainy quotes".  I used my MS Scoreboard to make the "faux" brick wall, which is hard to see in this picture (sorry).  The image was provided by Robert Jackson; and was colored using Copic Sketch Markers.  The patterned paper is from my scrap stash (DCWV).

Thanks for visiting my blog, and letting me vent!  I hope you'll come back.  LOL.

Gotta Get some Courage

Hello Family, Friends, and Followers!

The Wiz Relay is going strong and SOC; and we just finished Challenge #2 - with the "Mean ol' Lion"! For this challenge, we had to include the word "Courage" on the project.  The twist to the challenge was to use either burlap, dry embossing or jute.  I had fun with this challenge; and I'm looking forward to the next one.  Thanks for visiting my blog, and looking at my entry!

613 Avenue Create - Challenge #56 "Anything Goes"

OMGoodness!

I have lost track of my days!  This week has been full of crazy deadlines and trying to meet everyone else's schedule!  The challenge at 613 Avenue C this week was Anything Goes w/the optional twist of doing a gift set.  I had the pleasure of using a lovely digi from Kenny K - "Simone" - to make a card and gift bag set.  I was told by a wise young lady (Cassie) to always create 2 of each project, so I'll always have 1 as a reference.  Well, I haven't quite mastered that concept, but I'm getting there.

I decided to do 2 versions of the gift set (same color scheme), so I could use one for my DT assignment and the other for the blog hop at VSDSS (previous post).

Here's my DT entry.  TFL.

The Wiz Relay - Challenge #1

Hello there!

Most people make resolutions at the beginning of each new year.  According to Webster's Dictionary, a resolution is the act of finding an answer or solution to a conflict, problem, etc.  I choose to make declarations, instead of resolutions.  LOL.  So, I declared that I would participate in more challenges this year, and get my name "out there".  With that said, I am dropping off a quick card I did for the Wiz Relay challenge on Scraps of Color - Robert Jackson Digi Group.  We had to use the "Tin Man" image created by Robert Jackson, along with either metal or silver embellishments, OTHER THAN glitter!  Darn it!  (I'm a Stickles fanatic!)  Let's ease on down... ease on down... LOL.  TFL.

Image provide by Robert Jackson, colored with Copic Markers
Foil and patterned paper by DCWV
Silver hearts and buttons painted using Liquid Pearls

Thanks for visiting my blog.  I can't wait to see what's coming for the next phase of this challenge.

The patterned paper is from my stash
The blue trim is from Diva Cee as one of my goodies in a 6x6 paper swap
The glitter card is from a DCWV Card box
