Playing Catch Up!

Greetings Friends and Faithful Followers,

Just popping in to shake the dust off of this blog!  Life has been happening, with no regard to my crafting passion!  LOL.

Nonetheless, I was able to squeeze out a few quick projects in between life events.

Thanks for looking.
Wishing you a safe and prosperous New Year!

Special Request

Greetings Family, Friends and Followers!

This post is coming to you from a person who is truly feeling grateful right now!  I had a life-changing experience last week that has made me realize the importance of being thankful for the little things.  Most of us on this journey called life sometimes take things for granted - breath in our bodies, activity in our limbs, soundness of mind, family, etc.  I'm grateful to be alive today, and to have a second chance at life!

Now, for the theme of this post... In the past, I've mentioned, in passing, that my mom did not seem to have a fond appreciation for my crafting/hand-made items.  Well, she actually asked me to make a sympathy card for her to give to one of her best friends, who's mother passed away.  The "twist" was to NOT use the word "sympathy" on or in the card!!!  This was a challenge; but I like the end result - and I hope you do, too.

The inside reads:
Those we love remain with us
For love itself lives on, And cherished memories never fade Because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be More than a thought apart, For as long as there is memory, They'll live on in the heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Hello and Happy summer!

Just a quick post to drop off some shirts I made last week.   A friend's son was accepted to Morgan State; and she wanted some family shirts for the graduation celebration.

Memorial Day crafting

Greetings Family, Friends and Faithful Followers,

The summer is almost here; and you know that right before summer hits, Graduation Season comes in like a flood!! LOL.  Our family (and extended family), have a few graduations to celebrate; and I have been charged with making some graduation cards.  Now remember, in previous posts, I've said that I'm looking to be challenged to craft more this year?!!  I'm being challenged - and it's great!  The first card I completed was for our niece who graduated from high school (school colors were green/gold).  The image I used is from a wonder crafty sista-friend LaMeka, over at Pink Bow Ties - so please be sure to visit her site, browse, and purchase, if you see something you must have.

DP is from a DCWV Mega Stack; Flowers - Recollections (stash); Bling - Recollections (stash)
Dies - Spellbinders
Image was colored using Copic Markers:
E000, E00, E04, E21 (skin); E59, 57, 55 (hair); G12, 14, 17 (shirt & earring);
W09, 07, 05 (cap & gown); Y13 &15 (tassel)

This card was made for one of my bestest crafty sista - Cassie, who has been a true source of encouragement, inspiration and excellent sanity check (when I'm craft shopping)!  LOL.  She celebrated a milestone birthday over the weekend; and DH and I had the pleasure of being part of her (surprise) celebration.  Well, given that she is indeed a crafter, there was no way I could get away with a store-bought card for this particular milestone birthday.  So, I went through my supplies, and found her favorite colors (teal and brown, mostly)... and this card is the end-result!  I also made her a custom crafter's basket (turquoise/teal, of course) filled with a Spellbinders die that she wanted; an embossing folder with a Paris theme (for her to scrap her trip to Paris this summer); Copic Marker E04; trail mix (one of her favorite snacks); and some sprite her crafting beverage of choice - LOL)!  I had so much fun watching her take in all of the surprise party attendees, the decorations, and the personal touches of some TB photos... we're talking elementary school, ya'll!!  DH and I had a blast.

I'm grateful - no blessed - to have such a wonderful, uplifting, fun-loving, and talented friend in my life!  Tear, tear... smile... tear, tear... LOL.

Scraps Of Color: Robert Jackson Relay Challenge - EMPIRE

Greetings and Happy Monday,

It's been a while since my last post; and there's been a lot going on in my life and in my crafty circles!  Along with my bi-weekly DT projects for 613 Avenue Create, I've decided to push myself to craft more this year by participating in various challenges.

The Robert Jackson Digi Group is hosting a relay challenge with an "Empire" theme!!  That's right - every project we do includes a hand-drawn image of the Empire characters, provided by our resident artist - Robert Jackson.  Each challenge has a different twist... and that's where the fun begins!!  LOL.  Be sure to visit the group on SOC, and check out some of the wonderful creations that have been completed, so far.  We are currently working on Challenge #5 using the character Lucius, and the project must include a record/album and the word FAMILY!

Now, here's the kicker for me... I've NEVER watched the show Empire, so I have no idea who these folks are!!! LMBO.

Here are the projects I've completed for the first 4 challenges...

#4 - Jamal - All (predominantly) White w/the word BEAUTIFUL.

#3 Hakeem - Must use gold and a music note

#2  Andre - Must use a die cut and an inspirational/encouraging sentiment

#1 Anika - Red lips, with some pearls or diamonds

Thanks for stopping by!  Please feel free to leave a comment or some blog love!
