It's Been a While...

Good Morning Friends, Family and Faithful Followers,

Since my last post, DS has graduated from 8th grade and is heading to high school!! WTW?!! Right?!  LOL.  In celebration of this milestone, a few of us are getting together at one of my DS's favorite restaurants to celebrate his transition.  So, the crafter in me decided to force myself out of this slump I've been in, and make some invitations.  I wanted to do something a little different, so I went to Google and Youtube!  I struck gold with "How'd she DO that?" (Dawn O.).  Thanks to Dawn's tutorial on a graduation cap fun fold card, I was able to make some adorable invitations for the graduation celebration.

I followed the tutorial to the letter, EXCEPT for the tassels.  I decided to check out the Silhouette store (during the 40% off sale), and grabbed a couple of tassel files.  The first one didn't work out b/c I couldn't change the year tag in the file ($.59 down the drain - LOL!).  So, I used the second file, which included a shadow image... and voila, the tassel was born!  LMBO.  Anyway, I decided to attach each tassel with a brad (at this point, color didn't really matter).  Much to my surprise, though, this embellishment cost me an additional $.21/card to mail (not b/c of weight, but bulkiness - really??)!!  Now that did it!!

DS told me he had 2 teachers that he really enjoyed this school year; so he asked if I could make them something special.  Well, of course, I went back to the Silhouette Store to find some more files at 40% off!  I found a couple of teacher quotes that I could cut in vinyl and put on a canvas.  Due to time constraints and exhaustion, I was only able to complete one canvas for his homeroom/Science teacher (favorite, too).  Here's the finished project:

Well, now that we've caught up, thanks for visiting my little (slightly neglected) slice of paradise.

Hugs.

Weekend Excursions

Hello Faithful Followers,

Life has taken over, and has been kicking butt!!!  I know it's been a while since my last post; and it's been a while since I've crafted anything.  I recently attended Cassie's Craft Cafe "Craft-cation Getaway" in Hagerstown, MD.  That was 3 full days of paper, scissors, glue, and lots of fun!  I didn't finish all that I set out to do; but I was able to finish a few MD cards, 1.75 (yes, that's right) canvas projects, and complete 2/3 of the work needed for DS graduation celebration invitations.

I was able to go out and support my crafting sista (Cassie) this weekend, as she did her thang at Tracey Dowtin's "Pamper & Style Me" Epic Vendor Showcase.  See pics below...

Well, that's all for now.  As life settles down, I pray my crafting mojo kicks into overdrive!  Thanks for stopping by.

Brown Sugar Challenge #83

Good Evening,

Just dropping off a quick project that I did, in response to the current challenge over at Brown Sugar.  The challenge is a color challenge, using a range of blues and browns - one of my favorite color combinations.  Here's my entry, using an image that I got from The Stamping Chef - "AJ Playing on the Swing".  TFL.

Catching Up

Hello Family, Friends & Followers and Happy Snow Day!

Just posting a little something to get caught up on my blog, and to showcase some projects I completed over the last couple of weeks.  These projects were completed either as DT assignments or random challenges.  This year, I need to step up my crafting game; and although I may not make every challenge, my goal is to do more this year, and so on!  Thanks for stopping by my little slice of crafting paradise.  I appreciate your comments and blog love.

Entered in Outlawz Challenge:  GCC021714
Given as a birthday card to my Pastor, who loves anything safari

Entered in SOC Robert Jackson Wiz Relay Challenge #4.  Unfortunately, my relay ended with this image b/c I missed the submission deadline for Challenge #5!

My first card in a box (thanks to directions from Splitcoast Stampers)

SOC - Wiz Relay Challenge #3

Greetings Family, Friends, and Followers,

In support of my 2014 Declaration to have a greater presence in the crafting world, I decided to take on a few more challenges this year!  As mentioned in previous posts, I'm taking part in a "relay" challenge over at Scraps of Color (SOC).  The image for Challenge #3 was the scarecrow (played by Michael Jackson) - and boy this was a challenge.  We had to include recycled or repurposed material and brick (wall) in our projects.  Well, the recycled/repurposed part was taken care of; but I was NOT prepared for the fight I endured with my Cameo's print & cut feature!!  Six scarecrows bit the dust, in order for at least 1 to survive!  I was almost ready to give up; but that inner voice urged me to give it one more try.  And the end result was a simple card, that met all the requirements!

I reused the paper that stores use to wrap glass, and used it as "stuffing" for the scarecrow, and also for the quote.  The Einstein quote was from "brainy quotes".  I used my MS Scoreboard to make the "faux" brick wall, which is hard to see in this picture (sorry).  The image was provided by Robert Jackson; and was colored using Copic Sketch Markers.  The patterned paper is from my scrap stash (DCWV).

Thanks for visiting my blog, and letting me vent!  I hope you'll come back.  LOL.

Gotta Get some Courage

Hello Family, Friends, and Followers!

The Wiz Relay is going strong and SOC; and we just finished Challenge #2 - with the "Mean ol' Lion"! For this challenge, we had to include the word "Courage" on the project.  The twist to the challenge was to use either burlap, dry embossing or jute.  I had fun with this challenge; and I'm looking forward to the next one.  Thanks for visiting my blog, and looking at my entry!
